Big Green Triathlon

2012 Big Green Triathlon Race Results

Unfortunately there will not be an 2013 installment of this event at this time.  Hope to bring it back in the future.  Thanks!

Thank you all for an amazing day!  Stellar weather, volunteers and great competitors/ families made the Big Green Triathlon a huge success.  Hope to see you all in August at our www.stoakedtri.com event!  Thank you!

The Big Green Triathlon is fun family event that unites the Upper Valley community, Dartmouth College community and seasoned athletes to compete together in an exciting triathlon. The event is based out of Storrs Pond Recreation Area in Hanover during the Dartmouth Alumni weekend in June. The Big Green Triathlon takes place in the tranquil Connecticut Valley of Hanover and Lyme, NH providing breath taking scenery and a FUN challenging course for active participants of all levels.

The BGT USAT Sanctioned event is designed to be a stepping stone triathlon in that it is longer than a standard sprint race but not quite an Olympic distance race. Many active individuals are timid to take the step from sprint to Olympic distance, we hope our event helps bridge that gap.

The swim portion of BGT is 1km and will take place in Storrs Pond in waves based on the number of participants. The water temperature this time of year is 65 degrees on average. It will be wetsuit legal as long as the temperature remains under 76 degrees.

The bike portion is 30km in length and will travel north on rte 10 to river road, travel north on river road to turn right on east thetford rd climbing into Lyme. Once you reach Rte 10 again you will travel south back to Storrs Pond Recreation Area.

The run will be a mix of packed gravel, dirt and pavement around the rollercoaster trail that circumnavigates Storrs Pond. You will complete 2 laps or 8km of running to cross the finish in the big field adjacent to the beach.

Our inaugural year event will be capped @ 250 solo participants and 100 teams.

We will be offering a children's fun run as well so bring the whole family! In 2013 we hope to be offering a children's triathlon!

A portion of the proceeds from the Big Green Tri will benefit the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD).
